NATCHEZ — Services for Dolly “Dolly Gene” Smith, 60, of Natchez, who died at home with her husband at her side, on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home with the Rev. John Kramer officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday.

Dolly was born on April 4, 1955, in Lubbock, Texas, the daughter of Clifton and Opal Wooley.

She retired from the finance company business after more than 25 years, most recently with Delta Bank.

She always lit up a room and gave 100 percent to her numerous hobbies over the years including gardening, cross stitching, flower arranging, gardening, painting, photography, hunting, pottery and even Texas Hold ‘Em poker. Anytime someone needed her, she was always there to help.

Dolly enjoyed shopping with her two daughters, watching her son play baseball and attending her granddaughters’ school activities and sporting events. She played Pokeno every month with her dear friends for more than 10 years. She loved traveling with her husband, including many cruises and worldwide adventures and tours.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather Gordon Brown; three brothers; four sisters; father-in-law Donald Smith, mother-in-law Ricki Smith; and a beloved cocker spaniel named Fancy.

She will be missed by her survivors, husband Jimmy Ray Smith; two daughters, Jennifer Lessley and husband, Joel, and Jessica Massey and husband, Brian; one son, Brian Smith; four granddaughters, Taylor and Meredith Lessley and Emma and Addison Massey; a special four-legged child named Myra; father-in-law and mother-in-law Charlie and Geri Johnson; three brother-in-laws, Leslie Smith, Michael Johnson, Wayne Smith and wife, Debra; and hundreds of special friends.

Her family would like to say thank you for the tender care given by her two sitters, Sharon Robinson and Angela Latham, and a special family friend Jimmie Gayle McPhearson.

Pallbearers will be Raymond White, Chris Smith, Nick Smith, John Smith, Johnathon Thorpe and Bob Adams.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made to the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society.
