JACKSON —  Joe W. Stedman  was inducted into the Mississippi Realtor Hall of Fame during the recent annual Mississippi Realtors Convention in Hattiesburg.

The Hall of Fame award honors Realtors who have made distinguished contributions to the profession over a period of at least 20 years.

Stedman has been involved in the Realtor association at the local and state levels in many different capacities. He was an instructor for the Mississippi Realtor Institute for nine years, was elected twice to serve as president of the Natchez Board of Realtors and chaired the committee that created the Natchez Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service.

He was elevated to Realtor Emeritus this year by the National Association of Realtors, and appeared before and successfully convinced the Louisiana Real Estate Commission to remove the residency requirement for licensure,  paving the way for non-residents to become licensed in that state and subsequently leading to full reciprocity between Mississippi and Louisiana.

He has been actively involved with the Realtors Land Institute for many years on the state and national levels, serving as state president in 2009.  He was selected Mississippi Land Realtor of the Year in 2009.

Stedman was also appointed by two different governors to multiple terms on the Mississippi Real Estate Commission.
