VIDALIA — Louisiana voters will head to the polls today to determine statewide elected officials.
In Ferriday, voters will also determine if they will renew an 11.5-mill tax decide to roads and drainage.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Statewide ballots include the run-off election for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general.
The run-off for governor will pit Democrat John Bel Edwards, a state representative, against Republican U.S. Sen. David Vitter.
The lieutenant governor’s race is between Republican Billy Nungusser, the former parish president of Plaquemines Parish, and Democrat Kip Holden, the mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish.
The only run-off with an incumbent candidate is for attorney general, in which Republican Buddy Caldwell — the current holder of the office — will see a challenge from Republican Jeff Landry, a former U.S. representative and a member of the Tea Party Caucus.
The Ferriday ballot will include the tax renewal, a tax residents already pay that is dedicated to the construction, paving and improving of streets, roads and drainage.
Passing the renewal will issue 15-year bonds for $1.28 million, which will accrue interest at 8 percent.
Approximately 640 people cast in-person ballots during early voting.
