NATCHEZ — A celebration of life service for Mattie Mae Wilkinson, 104, of Natchez, who died Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Bethany Primitive Baptist Church in Benton with the Rev. Eric Sanford officiating.
Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mrs. Wilkinson was born March 6, 1911, in Yazoo County, the daughter of George Benjamin Smith and Martha Jane Davis Smith.
She was a member of Bethany Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wilkinson was a loving mother and grandmother. She always loved being with her family and was happiest surrounded by children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Madison Wilkinson; two daughters, Altine Delhomme and Daisy Nell Beckham; two sons, George W. Wilkinson and Ernest L. Wilkinson; two grandsons; one granddaughter; seven brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include two daughters, Bessie C. Mizelle of Byram and Onida W. Lewis and husband, Bill, of Natchez; one daughter-in-law, Betty Wilkinson of Meadville; one son-in-law, Bill Delhomme of Breaux Bridge, La.; four sisters, Helen Luby of Benton, Katherine Harrison of Tinsley, Grace James of Yazoo City and Lorraine Hardacre of Flora; two brothers, James Smith of Benton and Vardman Smith of Yazoo City; and 21 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Stubbs, the caring nurses and caregivers at Crown Health and Rehab and Camellia Hospice.
