BROOKHAVEN — The Trinity Episcopal Day School Lady Saints ran into a tall order Wednesday afternoon against Parklane Academy — literally.

“They had height, talent and were just shooting well inside,” Trinity head coach Fay Minor said. “We were just outplayed.”

The Lady Saints fell to the Lady Pioneers 68-39.

Tootsie Carter racked up 22 points for Parklane and Taylor Murry added 10.

A bright spot for Trinity, though was freshman Rearnna Mayberry, who led the team with 12 points.

“She played really well and was our sleeper,” Minor said. “She’s probably the smallest on the floor, but played everywhere and battled with the big girls.”

Minor said playing in the tournament was crucial for the Lady Saints, especially with it being over the course of a break.

“We look forward to playing in these tournaments because it is about a three week layoff, and we need something in between to keep us up and ready with district coming up,” Minor said.
