NATCHEZ — A Natchez Realtor received a very unexpected guest Thursday morning.

Charlotte Copeland was in her new realty office at 110 N. Union St., when an eight-point buck wandered into her building.

The deer was injured and bleeding, and walked all the way to the back of the lobby, where Copeland was talking to workers who are renovating the building.

“I was just in shock,” Copeland said. “I was speechless.”

William Hinson, who was in the office, took photos and a video of the deer on his phone.

Copeland said the deer became frightened and ran for the exit.

In his rush to get away, the buck made his own exit —through the plate glass window.

Blood and hair were visible on some of the shards of glass outside. Witnesses say the deer headed toward Main Street, but the blood trail ends only a few feet south of Copeland’s building.

Copeland said her first office visit was shocking, but memorable.

“He was really a beautiful animal,” Copeland said.
