April 12, 1954 – Feb. 11, 2016

MONTEREY — Memorial services for Thomas Alan Greene Sr., 61, of Lafayette, La., formerly of Monterey, who died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Monterey Christian Church, 457 Highway 906, in Monterey, with his nephew the Rev. Bill Blackburn officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, La.

Tommy was born April 12, 1954, in Springhill, La., the son of Glenn Greene Sr. and the former Joyce Aliene “Peggy” Price.

Daddy was a simple man who loved and lived a simple life and enjoyed his time outdoors where he found peace fishing for hours. Most importantly, he loved his kids and grandkids, all of whom will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother; paternal grandparents, Gile and Sarah Greene; maternal grandparents, Clyde and Dorothy Price; sister-in-law, Sue Davidson; and nephew, Wyatt Kemp.

Survivors include his father of Monterey; two sisters, Janice Warren and husband, Twes, of Monterey and Joyce Perry of Sandy Lake, La.; two brothers, Robert Greene and partner, Julie, of Monterey and Glenn Greene Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Vicksburg; the mother of his children, Shirley Wiley of Fayette; two sons, Thomas Alan Greene Jr. and fiancée, Jade Landry, of Youngsville, La., and David Rowell and wife, Rebecca, of New Iberia, La.; three daughters, Sara Hollier and husband, Cody, of Youngsville, Cynthia Miguez and husband, Pat, of Maurice, La., and Anna Richardson of Texas; his pride and joy were all of his grandchildren, Alan Rowell, Alexis Miguez, Annalyse Rowell, Sierra Rowell, Ava Broussard, Mia Broussard, Robert “Rob” Greene, Drake Hollier and Kourtlynn Hollier; also left to cherish his memory, his dear friend, Betty Jean, affectionately known as Nanny.

The family extends thanks to the staff at University Hospital in Lafayette, all of whom showed great and sincere kindness during daddy’s illness.
