FERRIDAY — Services for Edward “Ed” Hooper, 87, of Vidalia, who died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Baptist Church in Levee Heights in Ferriday with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating.
Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Hooper was born Feb. 25, 1929, in Shaw, the son of Willie and Clara Stafford Hooper.
He was retired from the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries and Fifth Levee Board District.
He was also a member of St. Thomas Baptist Church and an original member of the Shaw Spiritual Singers.
Mr. Hooper was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Clint Allen; one daughter, Janice Faye Hooper; four brothers; one nephew; and one son-in-law.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Cleo Neal Hooper; three sons, Ernest Hooper and wife, Doris, of Ferriday, Floyd Hooper of Vidalia and Dwayne Hooper and wife, Felecia, of San Pero, Calif.; three daughters, Patricia Burgess and husband, Charles, of Gonzales, La., Mary McDonald of Woodville and Carol Armsted and husband, Clarence Armsted Sr., of Natchez; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a number of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a lifetime friend and confidante, Willie Milligan of Ferriday.
