NATCHEZ — New Covenant Presbyterian Church welcomed new leadership at the end of January.
The Rev. Seth Duhs, of Jackson accepted the position to pastor at the church after visiting the congregation several times in 2015.
“I always knew this was what I wanted to do,” Duhs said. “I was in junior high when I felt called to do this, but I did think about other professions before attending seminary.”
A graduate of Delta State University, Duhs began his college career seeking a degree in nursing.
“I wanted to become a flight nurse,” he said. “Thankfully, my teachers saw my heart was not in the program and told me that I should go and pursue what I loved.”
He did just that.
After taking a year-long break, Duhs began his time at the Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson.
“I have a long history of church leadership,” Duhs said. “My grandfather is a Presbyterian minister, and my father is a church elder. I have also served as a youth minister for roughly seven years, but this is where I had always wanted to be.”
During seminary, Duhs became part of a program called the preaching circuit.
“The preaching circuit is a really great program where you go to different churches to preach,” Duhs said. “The Lord brought my wife, Roberta, and I here in March of last year and we began coming back once a month.”
