NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was arrested Friday for allegedly embezzling money from his employer.
William Pugh, 43, of 127 Cherrybark Lane, was arrested by Natchez police for allegedly embezzling an undisclosed sum of money from Gulf South Auto on Sergeant Prentiss Drive, where he worked.
Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford said the owner of the dealership, Jody Smith, first reported a suspected embezzlement on Feb. 12.
Ford said Smith based his suspicions on bank statements and pointed out several incidents in which he believed money had been embezzled.
Police investigated the claims, Ford said, and a warrant was issued for Pugh’s arrest on March 24.
Pugh was released on a $65,000 bond Friday afternoon. He will appear in court on Monday.
