NATCHEZ — The Adams County Board of Supervisors met Wednesday behind closed doors to discuss what was characterized as “a major economic development prospect.”
The executive session portion of the meeting with Natchez Inc. officials lasted approximately an hour and 15 minutes.
Natchez Inc. Executive Director Chandler Russ said afterward that the discussion included asking the county board to review its possible commitments to the project, which include property.
In this instance, Russ said the property in discussion includes the county-owned lands that formerly housed International Paper Company’s Natchez mill and the Belwood Country Club.
Russ declined to say what industry or industrial sector the potential client represents, saying to share more would breach confidentiality agreements.
“If we are successful, it will have a major regional impact,” he said.
Board of Supervisors President Mike Lazarus declined to share more about the project, deferring all comment to Russ.
“We will know soon if something is going to happen,” Lazarus said.
