CROSBY — Services for Barbara “Bobbie” Gwendalynn Ashley, 80, of the Old Saukum Community near Crosby, who died Friday, May 20, 2016, at her residence, will be 3 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster with the Rev. Toby Jones and Dennis Johnsey officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Ashley 5 Cemetery on Mississippi 563.
Mrs. Ashley was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Natchez, the daughter of Charles “Charlie” Clifton Beattie and Margaret “Maggie” Idella Hauer Beattie.
She was a housewife and a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church near Crosby.
Mrs. Ashley is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gurvis Ashley; infant son, Daniel Keith Ashley; grandson, Clifton Dywayne Ashley; seven brothers and sisters, Alma Beattie, Elma Pettit, Minnie Netterville, Clifford Beattie, Louise Floyd, Freda Bruss and Paul Beattie.
Survivors include one daughter, Geraldine Ashley Felter of Crosby; one son, Gurvis Clifton Ashley and wife, Lesa, of Crosby; three sisters, Elsie Wunstel of Central, La., Pauline Aldridge and husband, Charles, of Jackson, La. and Patricia Boles and husband, Sonny, of Central, La.; four grandchildren, Herbert Van Felter of Crossett, Ark., Holly Lynn Rabalais and husband, Michael, of Zachary, La., Louis Edwin Felter of Laurel and Lesa Charmaine Ashley of Madison; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Van Felter, Louis Felter, Noah Houtman, Jonah Houtman, Jack Sojourner, and Phillip Frierson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cayden Phillips and Blaine Phillips.
