Sarah Elizabeth Campbell Godard

NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Sarah Elizabeth Campbell Godard, 85, of Nashville and formerly of Natchez, who died Thursday, May 19, 2016, at her residence in Nashville, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Sarah was born Feb. 20, 1931, the daughter of Louis and Juanita Campbell.

She grew up in Natchez and was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She married her first love, the late Russell M. Godard Jr. They resided in Natchez before moving to Gulfport and then to New Orleans. After Russell’s passing, she moved to Mobile and resided for the last three years in Nashville.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Campbell; and one sister, Dianne Campbell Townsend.

Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Armistead of Nashville; two sons, Russell Keith Godard of Gulfport and Scott Campbell Godard of Hattiesburg; one brother, Charles Louis Campbell Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Shirley Campbell Smith of Natchez and Sue Campbell Gray of Atlanta, Texas; seven grandchildren, Christopher Godard of Gulfport; Aaron Armistead of Nashville; Jason Godard of Gulfport; Jake Godard of Mobile; Alex Armistead of Fayetteville; Sara Godard of Hattiesburg; Steven Godard of Brookhaven and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to American Institute for Cancer Research, Alzheimer’s Association or American Diabetes Association.
