FERRIDAY — Services for Charles H. “Doc” Long, 73, of Frisco, Texas, who died Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Plano, Texas, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sevier United Methodist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Truman Stagg, the Rev. Clyde Ray Webber and John E. Alwood Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Long was born June 24, 1942, in Ferriday, the son of Charles H. Long and Helen Chauvin Warden.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and generous friend to many. He worked for more than 40 years in financial services and retired as a senior vice president with Wells Fargo Investments.
Mr. Long was an avid outdoorsman and loved playing tennis and traveling. He also loved gardening and was a master Green Egg griller.
Mr. Long proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his maternal grandparents, Arthur E. Chauvin and Blanche Alwood Chauvin.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Patsy Vanya Long; one son, Alan Long and wife, Kathy, of Spring, Texas; one daughter, Pamela Boss and husband, Rick, of Frisco; five granddaughters, Elizabeth Boss, Joanna Boss, Abigail Boss, Sabrina Long and Lindsay Long; one brother, Ricky Long and wife, DeeDee, of Jackson; and two sisters, Charlotte White and husband, Richard, of Ferriday and Linda Henry and husband, Travis, of Shreveport, La.
Pallbearers will be Travis Brown, Austin Lipsey, Levi Brown, Striker Brown, Freddie Trisler and Ty Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sevier United Methodist Church of Ferriday or Ferriday First Presbyterian Church.
