Feb. 20, 1943 – June 22, 2016

NATCHEZ — Services for Dewey Nelson Scroggins, 73, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jacob Howington officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Scroggins was born Feb. 20, 1943, in Vicksburg, the son of Dewey Scroggins and Sara Fuller Scroggins.

He was a retired salesman for an oil field company. He was also a member of Trace City Baptist Church.

Mr. Scroggins was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter-in-law, Hiromi Scroggins.

Survivors include his wife of 51 and one-half years, Rebecca “Pennye” Irwin Scroggins;  two sons, Mitchell Nelson Scroggins and wife, Natalie, of Natchez and Brad Ivan Scroggins and wife, Stephanie, of St. Louis, Mo.; three granddaughters, Teresa Marie Scroggins of San Diego, Calif., Brittany Lemay Scroggins and Amber Nicole Scroggins, both of Natchez; two grandsons, Jonathon Nelson Scroggins and  Brad Ivan Scroggins Jr., both of San Diego; one sister, Fran Martin and husband, Freddie, of Baytown, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tim McCary, Daniel Cavin Jr., Josh Stricklin, Billy Ray Tanner, Tacoma Stricklin and Terrell Foster.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Trace City Baptist Church Youth Department.
