NEWELLTON, La. — Funeral services for Anne Hampton Ray Castle, 84 of St. Joseph, , who died Friday, July 1, 2016, in New Roads, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at at Newellton Union Church with the Revs. John Wilkins and Becky Poor officiating. Please join the family in this Celebration of Life by wearing purple and gold.
Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday and 11 a.m. until time of services at the church Tuesday.
Anne Castle was born Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1931 in Philadelphia, the daughter of Ralph Lofton Ray and Nancy Brown Ray. Mrs. Anne graduated from Belhaven College and University of Southern Mississippi, where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She was a music teacher, a member of Bruin-Vidal DAR, Tensas Garden Club, The Cosmopolitan Club, an avid bridge player and an avid LSU fan along side her husband. Mrs. Anne was a long time writer of the “People, Places and Events” column in the Tensas Gazette. Her biggest pride and joy was watching her children and grandchildren playing and coaching sports.
She was preceded in death by her husband Prentiss Atkins Castle, Sr., and her parents.
Survivors include two sons, Prentiss A. Castle Jr., and wife Beth of Houston, and Ralph Ray Castle and wife Katherine of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Susan Castle Gremillion and husband Darren of Baton Rouge; grandchildren Prentiss Atkins Castle III and wife Beth of Amarillo, Texas, Lauren Castle Doucet and husband Jacob of New Roads, William Walker Castle of Houston and Mathew William Bailey of Baton Rouge; great-grandchildren Prentiss Atkins CastleIV, Lucy Elizabeth Doucet and Annie Gayle Doucet; a sister, Bettye Sue Logan and husband Crawford of Tchula; and a nephew, Crawford Logan and wife Tami and their children, Christopher Logan and Roane Logan.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Ratcliff, Russ Ratcliff, Charlie Westmoreland, Dale Hoover, Al Coco, and Jeff McMurray.
