Arrest made in shooting at Holiday Apartments

NATCHEZ — An Adams County man was arrested Thursday in connection with a Natchez apartment shooting from this past Sunday.

Michael K. Thomas, 19, 17 Jones Road, was arrested Thursday on Jones Road by Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies, said Natchez Police Department Chief Danny White. Thomas was charged with aggravated assault for allegedly shooting a man three to four times in both legs.

The shooting victim, a Natchez man, was hospitalized in Jackson. The incident occurred following a dice game in front of building 10 of the Holiday Apartments Sunday. While police don’t know the exact circumstances leading up to the shooting, White said Thomas is alleged to have pulled out a gun during the game and started firing.

Police were alerted to the shooting at 3:44 a.m. Sunday when they were dispatched to Merit Health for a gunshot victim who was later transferred to Jackson.

A warrant was issued for Thomas’s arrest this past Sunday.

Thomas was being held Saturday in the Natchez City Jail on a $100,000 bond.
