MEADVILLE — Services for Charles Ray Carraway, 81, who died Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Merit Health in Natchez, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville with the Rev. Don Tate officiating.

Burial will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Carraway was born March 17, 1935, in Franklin County, the son of Marshall and Wilene McGehee Carraway.

He was a longtime tire builder at Armstrong Tire and Rubbery Company in Natchez and was also a truck driver for J.B. Hunt. He was a mason in the Harmony Lodge No. 1 of Natchez, a member of the Shriners and a member of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed eating and spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

Mr. Carraway was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Rebecca Carraway; brother Roy Carraway; and sisters Bonnie Groover and Mary Carraway Lezina.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Maxine Nettles Carraway; daughters Mona Carraway of Bogue Chitto and Jackie Ashley and husband, Thomas, of Crosby; son Mike Carraway and wife, Donna, of Vidalia; brother Hosie Carraway of Summitt; sister, Fanny Carraway Arnold of McCall Creek; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a number of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Allen Clifton, Eli Ashley, Blair Armstrong, Brandon Aldridge, Kenny Estis and William Smith.
