NATCHEZ — Services for Michael Ray Wheeler, 55, of Vidalia, who died Friday, July 29, 2016 at his residence, will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Sonny Daniels officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. today and 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Wheeler was born Aug. 17, 1960 in Natchez, the son of Herman Ray Wheeler and Mildred McCall Wheeler. He retired from International Paper and drove a tanker for Cloutier Oil. He opened his own company after that. He enjoyed buggy riding, pontooning, camping, and hunting with his many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Ray Wheeler and his father-in-law, Willie Thornton Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Tammy Wheeler of Vidalia; three children, Ron Watts and his wife, Erin, Sara Lindsey Wheeler, and Mallory Anne Wheeler, all of Vidalia; three grandchildren, Clayton Lee, Tanner Drake, and Murray Willie Watts; his mother, Mildred McCall Wheeler; one sister, Pam Wheeler of Jackson; mother-in-law, Helen Thornton of Natchez; two brothers in law, Wade and Gary Thornton both of Vidalia; and a number nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Terrell Jones, Mark Williams, Tony Moon, Logan Moon, Glenn Hall, Donnie Hall, and Brian Hall.
Honorary pallbearers will be Green Mountain Hunting Club.
Memorials may be made to the Natchez Adams County Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.
