Trinity Episcopal’s Dionna Jackson is heading to Rhode Island.
The May graduate recently signed a basketball scholarship with the Community College of Rhode Island, and plans to enroll at the school on Aug. 27.
“It’s going to be a different experience,” Jackson said. “The weather, teammates and coach are all going to be different, but it will be a fun experience. I get to get away from home and see how far I can get in basketball.”
The 6-foot post player averaged 18 points and 20 rebounds per game last season before injuring her hand and missing the Saints’ run in the MAIS playoffs.
Jackson said she is excited to continue playing the sport she loves at the next level and is hopeful to make a big impact in her freshman campaign.
“They really wanted me for basketball,” she said. “I didn’t really want to go a school where I didn’t play basketball anymore.”
