Rebels to host MAIS power MRA

All offseason, Adams County Christian School Rebels have had the lingering memory of last season’s unexpected playoff defeat at the hands of Leake Academy hinging in their minds.
Today will mark the first day the Rebels can begin to erase last season’s memory, yet it will be no easy task.
ACCS welcomes Madison-Ridgeland Academy today, a powerhouse in MAIS AAAA.
MRA enters the showdown having already played its regular-season opener, a 37-2 drubbing over Valwood High School of Georgia.
ACCS, meanwhile, had last week’s jamboree against Trinity Episcopal canceled, which coach David King said could prove detrimental for his squad tonight.
“I think it’s going to be a big disadvantage for us,” King said. “You play those jamboree games to get the kinks ironed out, and we didn’t have that opportunity.”
MRA is fresh off a 10-3 2015 campaign, and boasts a plethora of top talent along the line of scrimmage, led by 6-foot-5, 315-pound LSU commit Saahdiq Charles.
“They’re outstanding everywhere,” King said. “Not only do they have the LSU commit, but they have two other (lineman) being recruited. If people in Natchez want to see a what a college football lineman looks like, they’ve got three of them.”
With the amount of rain the local area has taken on this past week, King said his squad has been unable to get into a practice-week routine.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
