FERRIDAY — Services for Katherine Patricia “Patsy” King, 75, of Red Oak, Texas, who died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, after a brief illness, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Clyde Ray Webber officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. King was born Nov. 11, 1940, in Ferriday.

She was a graduate of Ferriday High School and Northeast Louisiana University. During her teenage years, she competed in a number of beauty contests that included the Miss Louisiana pageant, played in the school band, was a majorette and competed in basketball and softball. While still in college, she married Donald “Coach” King and served as the perfect military and coach’s wife of 55 years. As a devoted mother, her greatest pride and joy and the loves of her life were her two boys, Don “Deke” and Kyle. While tending to the duties of mother and wife, she also served in the educational field as a teacher and counselor. She was also employed as an insurance adjuster and paralegal.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Donna; brothers, Mike and Ricky; and nephew, Mitch.

Survivors include her loving husband, Don; two sons, Deke and Kyle and wife, Melody; one sister, Glenda; sister-in-law, Norma Jean; grandsons, Kurtis, Konnor and Kory; two granddaughters, Hunter and Dakota; and nieces, Jeani, Rami and LaTefy.

Pallbearers will be Glen Hendrix, Dr. Max Stell, Jimmy Christmas, Johnny Loomis, Drew Loomis and Johnny Clifton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Pee, Joe Meeks, Jerry Almond, Darden Gladney, Chris Walker and Josh Morrison.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I’d walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts.
