COVINGTON, La. — Services for Ann Russell Dykes, 94, of Mandeville, La., who died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 16333 Louisiana 1085, in Covington, La.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mrs. Dykes was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Stratton, the daughter of William and Minnie Russell.

She was a resident of Natchez from 1942 to 1999 before making her home in Mandeville. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Covington and a former member of First Baptist Church and Parkway Baptist Church in Natchez.

Mrs. Dykes was a former owner of Dykes Jewelry and a member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 75 in Natchez.

Ann’s strong faith in Jesus Christ was unwavering to the end. She deeply loved her family. She was a loyal friend to many, especially those in the Lydia Bible Fellowship Class at her church in Covington. She loved to help her family and others and was a very thoughtful, kind and generous person.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 66 years, Elven Raiford Dykes Sr.; three brothers, Jack Russell, Joe Russell and Belton Russell; and one sister, Frances Russell Saum.

Survivors include one son, Elven R. Dykes Jr. and wife, Lucy, of Mandeville; four grandchildren, Kevin Dykes and wife, Angelique, of Madison, Tracy Volante and husband, Kenny, of Mandeville, Melanie White and husband, Shelby, of Nashville, Tenn., and George Forbes and wife, Stephanie, of Gretna, La.; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Mack Russell and wife, Marie, of Union; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Forest Manor Home and St. Tammany Parish Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
