Coming off a big win over MHSAA Class 5A Natchez High, Jefferson County will be on the road this week to take on the Morton Panthers at 7 p.m. Friday.

“That was a big win for our guys,” JCHS coach James Herrington said. “That’s the thing I’ve been talking about to our guys, using that as a springboard.”

Herrington said the biggest challenge Morton presents is that it has one of the best players in the state in senior wide receiver D.D. Bowie.

“With a guy like him, you have to tackle well. If you miss him, he’s gone,” he said.

Herrington said the key matchups are limiting Morton’s possessions, playing sound defense and winning special teams.
