Cathedral High School fell to Simpson Academy, despite a modest comeback in the top of the seventh inning.

“Just didn’t hit,” head coach Gary Blackwell said. “We can’t wait until the seventh inning to hit. Pitchers did their job, we’re just not hitting the ball.”

Down 5-3, Carolina Kaiser led off the inning with a base hit and Elizabeth Smith homered on a fly ball to left-center field. Allie Feltus reached on a base hit to put the tying run on base with no outs, but Simpson snuffed out the rally to earn the win.

Cathedral returns home Thursday to host Franklin Academy set for 5:30 p.m.
