Block attempts to rebound against Mangham

Block head coach Bo Sproles said that he is thankful that his team is healthy for the most part after a 54-0 loss last Thursday night at Jena.
He’ll need all of those healthy players to step up when the Bears host LHSAA Class 2A Mangham at 7 p.m. Friday.
Mangham enters Friday 3-0 and ranked in the top 10 in the latest LSWA Class 2A poll.
“We’re a little banged up, but nothing serious. A couple of bruised ankles and jammed thumbs,” Sproles said.
Mangham’s offense is a cross between the Notre Dame Box and the double-wing, Sproles said. He said their running game is a legitimate one.
“We have to stay focused and put ourselves in position defensively to stop the run,” he said. “Talent-wise, they’ve got size and speed. They’re very well-coached, athletic and big.”
Sproles said he expects the Dragons to put eight or nine players in the box to stop the Bears’ running game.
“We’re going to have to show them we can throw. But we’re going to have to run the ball as well,” he said.
