FERRIDAY — Services for Marilyn Jane Myers Day, 97, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Eddie King officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Day was born Oct. 29, 1918, in Franklin County, the daughter of Mose Myers and Verdie Cotton Myers.
She was a beautician who owned and operated her beauty parlor for more than 50 years. She was an avid gardener and cook. She enjoyed dancing in her living room with family. She loved football and baseball. But most important to her was teaching her family to love each other.
Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David “Bud” Day; one son, Gerald Day; one great-great-granddaughter, Jules Thomas; six brothers, Edgar Myers, Newman Myers, Alvi Myers, James Myers, Charlie Myers and Quinn Myers; and three sisters, Florence Guzzardo, Vera Boyd and Alma Stroud.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Day Smith and husband, Charles Smith Jr. of Vidalia; one sister, Marvrie Chandler of Beaumont, Texas; one sister-in-law, Kay Day of McComb; two granddaughters, Tara Scruggs and husband, David, of Monterey and Tami Andrea and husband, Will, of Vidalia; one grandson, David Day of McComb; four great-granddaughters, Paige Thomas and husband, Sam, Carlee McClain, Mallory Wallace and Hannah Day; two great-grandsons, Joey Day and Nic Day; one great-great-granddaughter, Addison Thomas; special friend, Bluford Ward of Vidalia; and special and loving caregiver, Theresa Short of Vidalia.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Lupo, Jason Daulphine, Roy Myers, Joel Myers, Sonny Jones and Robert Myers.
