NATCHEZ — Services for Cynthia Patten Barfield, 60, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at St. Dominic Medical Center in Jackson, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church The Vision Center with the Rev. Stanley B. Searcy Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Barfield was born June 29, 1956, in Claiborne County, the daughter of Johnny Thomas and Viola Barber Reynolds.
She was an exemplary mathematics educator for 29 years. She also served as a pastor and mentor among other positions at New Hope Baptist Church The Vision Center.
Mrs. Barfield was preceded in death by her father; five siblings, Robert Reynolds, Samuel Thomas, Larry Dotson, Claudie Thomas and Rosie Ann Brown; eight aunts and uncles, Dave and Ollie Barber, Jimmy Barber, Clarence Barber, Georgia Reed, Velliar Hopkins, Julius Reynolds and Ruby Reynolds.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Barfield; four children, Aaron Patten and wife, Linda, Sharon Bradford and husband, Robert, Travis Patten and wife, Michelle, and Lotoya Barfield; her mother and husband, James; 12 grandchildren, Aronte Patten and wife, NaTasha, Jacquese Dunmore, Travez Bradford, Xavier Bradford, Jairus Patten, Robert Bradford Jr., Breanna Scott, Quadrick Bradford, Travis Trentel Patten, Micaela Patten, Donnell Thompson and Zelik Patten; two great-grandchildren, Serenity and Harmony Patten; 12 siblings, James Reynolds Jr. and wife, Hattie, Eddie Leatherberry and wife, Claudine, Rosie White and husband, John Paul, Johnny Thomas Jr. and wife, Mashekia, David Reynolds and wife, Kim, James Leatherberry, Jerry Reynolds, Danny Thomas, Diane Clincy and husband, Chris, Eddie Dotson and wife, Louise, Charles Shorts and wife, Annie, and Peggy Leatherberry; best friend, Glendora Alexander Muhammad; and a number of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
