Natchez High School quarterback Chris Scott may be slowed down but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been busy.

The junior signal-caller was sidelined this past week for his team’s game against Wayne County because of a foot injury, but that didn’t stop him from making his college commitment.

Scott made his pledge to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette early last week, ending what has been a hectic recruiting process.

“They’ve been showing me love since the ninth grade,” Scott said. “I’ve been loving them, and they’ve been recruiting me heavily.”
Scott chose the Ragin’ Cajuns over interests from the University of Southern Mississippi and Jackson State.

The 6-foot-3, 190 pounder said he chose ULL because of a strong relationship with the coaching staff.

“The coaching staff seems to be stable,” Scott said. “They have a good program going, and they are saying they can build around me.
“(ULL head coach Mark Hudspeth) was pumped about my commitment. He said that it his night.”

Scott said he has previously visited the Lafayette, La.-based campus and plans to visit again in early November.
“It’s not too far from home,” he said. “The town supports you no matter, good or bad. You have people to turn to; you have alumni to talk to. They have a good overall surrounding.”

The Ragin’ Cajuns are currently 2-4 this season and serves as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.

“(ULL) is where I want to be,” Scott said.
