Block High School was no match for East Beauregard High School Thursday night as the Trojans shut out the Bears 38-0 in the first round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Non-Select Prep Classic – Class 1A Playoffs.
No. 9 seed East Beauregard (10-2) jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter and, then added two more touchdowns and a 2-point conversion to take a 22-0 advantage into halftime.
The Vikings scored two more touchdowns, each of the scores were followed by a 2-point conversion to go ahead 38-0.
The Trojans, however, did not score in the fourth quarter.
No. 24 seed Block (1-10) was held to just 65 yards of total offense.
The one bright spot for Block was the play of senior Michael Barber, who had three sacks in one series.
“It just didn’t happen,” Block head coach Bo Sproles said. “They didn’t pass the ball. We got most of our yards on passing. They shut us down. It’s a horrible way to end the season. I hate it for our seniors.”
