NATCHEZ — On Sunday, the Lisemby family is set to perform as part of the 11 a.m. service at Highland Baptist Church.
The Lisembys are a three-generation family ministry who travel the world presenting the gospel of Jesus through the preached word and song. They have been doing so for more than 45 years.
The Lisembys say they believe they have a calling to be a “family” ministry because they feel families are continually breaking, failing and falling apart. They focus their outreach in this area because they believe the family was the first institution God established and should be considered one of the main factors in churches.
Stephanie McCall, wife of Bruce McCall who is the Highland Baptist Church’s minister of music, said they are pleased to have the Lisemby family coming to minister this weekend.
“Our pastor, Paul Southerland, just recently had surgery and will not be able to preach, and we have been getting fill-ins,” McCall said. “This concert was already lined-up. They were only going to lead us in praise and worship, but now they will also deliver the message God has laid on their hearts.”
Everyone is invited to attend the service and there is no fee for attending.
“There will be a love offering taken up just for the family that day, and the family will have a table there to sell their merchandise,” McCall said. “We just pray that God will rain down upon us his Holy Spirit, and people will forget everything else going on in the world for this hour and just worship our creator God.”
The church will also celebrate its Thanksgiving feast on the same day.
“We pray like in the day of Pentecost that hearts will be changed as we worship in unity with one another,” McCall said. “We want to feel Him all over our church through the praising, praying, worshipping, fellowshipping and feasting.”
Highland Baptist Church is located at 319 Highland Blvd. in Natchez.
