NATCHEZ — Services for Betty Mae Benton, 67, of Natchez, who died Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. LeRoy White officiating.
Burial will follow at Mount Plain Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Ms. Benton was born Nov. 14, 1949, in New Orleans, the daughter of Cleveland and Katie M. Benton.
She was a 1967 graduate of George Washington Carver High School in New Orleans. She also received her bachelor of science degree from Jackson State University and her master’s degree from Alcorn State University in Lorman.
Ms. Benton was employed as a coordinator at AJFC Headstart. She was retired.
She was a member of New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church and served as a choir member and was a member of the deaconess board. She enjoyed solving puzzles and she loved to read.
Ms. Benton was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Felicia Anne Clark and husband, Barry; one granddaughter, Latrice Renea Ramsey; and a number of friends and other relatives.
Ms. Benton is also survived by her companion poodle, Poncho.
Pallbearers will be Greg Pierce, JL Stacker, Debarius Lewis, Terriq Smith, Michael Bolden and Jordan White.
