NATCHEZ — Services for Mack Amos Blanton Sr., 69, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. D.W. Howard officiating.   12-1-mackblantonsr-obitpic2
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Blanton was born March 23, 1947, in Natchez, the son of Leo and Emma Blanton.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Blanton was preceded in death by his parents; godparents, William and Ruth Skipper, who helped to raise him; one brother, Leo Blanton Jr.; and other brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Survivors include three children, Theresa Davis and companion, Warren Perkins, of Natchez, Mack Amos Blanton Jr. of Baton Rouge and Marie Rue and companion, Reginald Simpson, of Houston; four stepsons, Marvin, Maurice and Markus Rue of Houston, and Keith Galtney and companion, Tameka Hulbert, of Natchez; one stepdaughter, Chasity Galtney and companion, Philip Wimley, of Natchez; five grandchildren, Roshantieir Reed, Zephaniah Reed and Akira Davis, all of Natchez, Jordan Rue and Jaylen Simpson of Houston; one great-grandson, Khy’Ren Reed of Natchez; nine step-grandchildren of Natchez; eight step-grandchildren of Houston; seven sisters, Anna L. Dent, Mildred M. Terrell, Addie B. Knight, Geneva Squalls and husband, James, Mary B. Phipps, Emma L. Blanton and companion, Robert Washington, and Shirley A. Blanton; one godsister, Hester Jean Pinder and husband, Richard, of Chicago; his first wife; Margaret Galtney of Natchez; a special friend, Robert Morgan of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
