NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Bobbie Powell Foster, 85, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Natchez City Cemetery with Dr. Doug Broome officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
An informal Celebration of Life gathering will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the home of Forrest and Debbie Foster, 5 Fatherland Road.
Mrs. Foster was born Sept. 26, 1931, in D’Lo, Miss., the daughter of Edward Walthall Powell and Lillie Mae Steen Powell.
She graduated from D’Lo High School, in 1948, and from Co-Lin Wesson, in 1950. She married Jack Foster, of Natchez, Sept. 2, 1950.
Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers, Billy Edward Powell and Charles Arthur Powell.
Survivors include her two sons, Forrest D. Foster and wife, Debbie, of Natchez and Lantz P. Foster and wife, Jane, of Canton; six grandchildren, Ashley Foster Elveston, Forrest Taylor Foster and wife, Kristy, Landon B. Foster, Jared C. Foster, Alex Foster Ogden and husband, Luke, and Britney B. Sones and husband, Sam; five great grandchildren, Braxtyn Elveston, Sammy and Si Sones, and Will and Chase Foster; one brother, Paul Truett Powell and wife, Nancy, of Anderson, S.C,; one brother-in-law, Louis Foster and wife, Christine, of Natchez; one sister-in-law, Denese Powell of Austin, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends and caregivers, Elton Merritt, Mary and Willie Williams.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Foster, Landon Foster, Jared Foster, Bruce Foster, Colby Powell, Billy Powell, Paul Powell and Preston Powell.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to The Palmer Home for Children, PO Box 746, Columbus, MS 39701.
