LORMAN — Services for Hilda Murphy Williams, 95, of Lorman, who died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, will be at 11 a.m. today at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating.
Burial will follow in McCay Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Williams was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Ernest and Willie Mae Murphy.
She was a faithful member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church until she moved to Gary, Ind., where she worked in dietary in a school system. Upon moving back to Mississippi, she rejoined Morning Star.
Mrs Williams was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gloster Williams Sr.; one son, Ernest Williams; one adopted daughter, Ruth Williams; and siblings Earnest Murphy Jr., Albert Murphy and Evelyn Murphy.
Survivors include one son, Gloster Williams Jr.; three foster daughter raised they raised as their own, Dorothy (Jackie) Dotson of Port Gibson, Yvonne Johnson and Teresa Johnson, both of Chicago; one sister, Freddie Johnson of Natchez; two sisters-in-law, Mary Murphy of Atlanta and Lucy Murphy of Gary; two godsisters, Linda F. Davis of Lorman and Pamela R. Cook of Indianapolis; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
