McKinley Barnes Sr. 

Dec. 29, 1921 – Jan. 10, 2017

NATCHEZ — Services for McKinley Barnes Sr., 95, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Sibley with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 7 p.m. following a celebration of life wake service.

Visitation will continue Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Barnes was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Sibley, the son of Gabriel Barnes Sr  and Virginia Scott Barnes.

He was retired from Johns-Manville in Natchez. He was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church and served as church teasurer.

Mr. Barnes enjoyed hunting, gardening and raising cows.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite S. Barnes.

Survivors include two sons, Venell Barnes and McKinley Barnes Jr.; one daughter, Veronica B. Allen; one sister, Virginia Hopkins; seven grandchildren,  Makesha, Jasmine, Ibrahim, April, Jamaal, Briana and Adia; two great-grandchildren, C.J. and Laila; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and church family.
