McCOMB — Services for Minor Jennings Dixon Jr., 83, of Magnolia, who died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Camellia Estates, will be 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church McComb with Dr. Woody Rimes and Dr. David Millican officiating.   01_17-minorjdixonjr-obitpic
Burial will follow at Mixon Cemetery in Magnolia under the direction of Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service today at the church.
Mr. Dixon was born Sept. 10, 1933, in Natchez, the son of Minor Jennings Dixon Sr. and Florence Morris Dixon.
He was a 1951 graduate of Natchez High School, attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College for one year and graduated from Mississippi State with a bachelor’s degree in business .
He was also a U.S. Navy veteran.
Mr. Dixon was employed by Shell Oil, International Paper Company in Natchez and retired from the Mississippi Employment Security as a tax auditor. He was a former member of First Baptist Church of Natchez for a number of years, where he taught the Oldest Mens Sunday School Class and served as a deacon.
After moving to Magnolia in 2001, he became a member of First Baptist Church of McComb. He was also a member of American Legion, Masonic Temple and Knights Temple. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and enjoyed God’s nature.
Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Jeannette Thompson and her husband, James L. Thompson; and one sister, Fay Simmons and her husband, Jack.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty Sue Mixon Dixon; one niece, Daphanie Eells of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; one nephew, James “Jimmy” Thompson; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Staton and husband, Ralph, and Judy Graves and husband, Nathan; and a number of other relatives and friends.
