Ferriday High School football players Lewis Matthews, Dantrieze Scott and Dare Rosenthal were named First Team All-State for Class 2A by the Louisiana Football Coaches Association Friday.
To receive recognition, players must have first been named First Team All-District in their position for the current year.
Matthews earned distinction as a linebacker, Rosenthal at the offensive tackle position and Scott as a tight end.
“We look at it as a higher than in comparison to others because it is voted on by coaches,” Ferriday coach Dwight Woods said. “It is a high honor.”
And fortunate for Ferriday, there is time for additional acknowledgments as all three players are juniors and will be returning next season.
“We are excited about them coming back next year,” Woods said. “We have a lot of kids from that class who are looking to be able to do good things in the future, academically and athletically.”
