Mrs. Farrar was born Dec. 25, 1922, in rural Tallulah, La., the daughter of James Nelson and Callie Williamson Nelson.
She came to New Iberia in 1951 with her husband and three daughters and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church for 20 years. She and her husband then moved to Vidalia where she faithfully served the Lord for 40 years at First Baptist Church. She treasured lifelong friends she made there. Four years ago she returned to New Iberia and became a resident of Azalea Estates where she made a number of friends.
Mrs. Farrar enjoyed sewing and making most of her daughters’ clothing while they were growing up. She crocheted afghans, made quilts and did beautiful needlepoint that she shared with family members and friends. She loved ministering to shut-ins and visiting those in the hospital. She spent many happy times on mission trips with her friends at First Baptist in Vidalia. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Farrar was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Farrar; her parents; two sisters, Edna Carter and Stena Rudisil; and four brothers, Isaac Nelson, Riley Nelson, Grant Nelson and Ray Nelson.
