CLAYTON — Services for the Rev. L.B. Oliver Sr., 86, of Clayton, who died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark Baptist Church in Clayton with the Rev. Reuben Oliver and the Rev. Ike Byrd officiating.
Burial will follow at Zion Church Cemetery in Foules, La., under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church, 511 8th St., in Monroe, La.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at St. Mark Baptist Church.
Rev. Oliver was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Foules, the son of Ben and Rosie Campbell Oliver.
He was the pastor and overseer of St. Paul Baptist Church, Avenue Baptist Church in Monroe, St. Paul Baptist Church in Sicily Island, St. James Baptist Church in Frogmore and Maitland Baptist Church in Foules.
He also enjoyed fishing and gardening in his spare time.
Rev. Oliver was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lonnie Jr.; his first wife and mother of his children, Margaret Long Oliver; and eight siblings, Arthur, Andrew, Joseph, Solomon, Robert, Ben, Booker and Gabriella.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Dorothy Caston Oliver; his nine children, Shirley and husband, Kenny, Belinda, Reuben and wife, Martha Sue, Joyce and husband, Charles, Lyna and husband, George, Darryl and wife, Jackie, Greg and wife, Alisha, Audrey and husband, Ronald, and Trinity and wife, Yolanda; three stepchildren, Cedric and wife, Tressie, André and wife, Anya, and Jennifer and husband, Carlin; one brother, Louis and wife, Mary Ann; one sister, Julia; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, his devoted church members, friends, neighbors and other relatives.
