No. 4 Natchez girls stun No. 1 Brookhaven, 56-48

The No. 4 seed Natchez High School girls basketball team outscored No. 1 Brookhaven 16-8 in the final quarter to pull off a 56-48 upset at the Region 6-5A tournament Monday in Jackson.

Kirdis Clark led the Lady Bulldogs (9-15) with 24 points, while Destiny Lyles pitched in with eight points.

With the win, Natchez clinches a berth in the MHSAA playoffs and advances to the region tournament championship game where it will play the winner of today’s game between Provine and Wingfield. Friday’s championship game is slated for  7 p.m.

Brookhaven (boys) 65, 

Natchez 59

Taylor Chasley scored 21 points and Larry Griffin had 17 but it wasn’t enough as Natchez fell to Brookhaven 65-59 in boys action.

Natchez must win Friday to advance to the playoffs.

The Bulldogs (7-16) will face the loser of today’s Provine-Wingfield contest.
