Vidalia hung tough with Ville Platte in the first half, but a big third quarter by the Bulldogs enabled them to defeat the Vikings 79-60 Friday night in the bi-district round of the LHSAA Class 3A State Playoffs.
Even after being down 21-15 after one quarter of play, No. 29 seed Vidalia made sure No. 4 seed Ville Platte would not pull away too quickly. The Vikings outscored the Bulldogs 17-15 in the second quarter to trail by only four points at halftime, 36-32.
However, any thoughts of an upset by the Vikings ended in the third quarter as Ville Platte put up 29 points while Vidalia managed just 15 points.
Demarco Brown finished with 21 points and Demikal McCoy had 10 points for Vidalia, which finished 10-17 overall.
