Robert “Bobby” Edward Merritt

NATCHEZ — Services for Robert “Bobby” Edward Merritt, 74, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Adams County Nursing Center, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez with Spruce Darden officiating.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Mr. Merritt was born July 23, 1942, in Natchez, the son of Vernon and Ruth Dooley Merritt. He loved to rebuild, repair and restore cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Carlton Merritt, Linda Merritt and Vernon Merritt Jr.

Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Lofton Merritt of Natchez; his children, Ricky Merritt and wife, Karen, of Opelousas, La., Lori Cowart and husband, Randy, of Natchez, Karen Burke and husband, Patrick, of Columbia, Tenn., Tracy Carlile and husband, Scott, and Stacy Merritt, all of Marshall, Texas, Leslie Rhinehart and husband, Kavin, of Natchez, Connie Morace and husband, Dennis, of Monterey, Roy Farmer and wife, Fawn, of Youngsville, La., Pat Farmer and wife, Desha, and Patrick “Dylan” Farmer-Merritt, all of Natchez; nine grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be James Worthey, Josh Halford, Marc Halford, David Dunson III, Jacob Dunson and Paul Dunson.
