FERRIDAY — Services for Harold David Thornton, 70, of Morrison, Colo., who died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, in Morrison, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with Danny Reed and Jimmy Rowland officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Thornton was born Jan. 22, 1947, in Summit, the son of Willie Thornton Sr. and Lora Mae Halford.
He served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and the Mississippi National Guard.
Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Willie Thornton Jr.
Survivors include one son, Joseph “Joey” Thornton and wife, Jennifer, of Golden, Colo.; one daughter, Samantha Hano-Merritt and husband, Christopher, of Ruston, La.; one brother, Gerald “Bo” Thornton and wife, Patricia, of Vidalia; one sister-in-law, Helen Thornton of Natchez; and four grandchildren, Hunter Thornton, Dixie Thornton, Kristen Dunson and Katie Dunson.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Thornton, Gary Thornton, Wade Thornton, Timmy Ratliff, Dennis Chapman and David Wright.
Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Collins and Robert Wright.
