Area teams shuffle games because of bad weather

Inclement weather and unplayable field conditions forced several local and area high school baseball and softball games that were scheduled for Tuesday to be either postponed or canceled.
Delta Charter School had several sporting events affected by the heavy rain and thunderstorms. Its baseball team was scheduled to host Buckeye High School for a junior varsity and varsity tilt, but head coach Jarrett Hoffpauir said those games will be rescheduled to Wednesday, March 29 at 4 and 6 p.m., respectively. The Storm will next play on Thursday at the Franklin Parish Tournament in Winnsboro, La., against Mangham at 4 p.m. and host Franklin Parish at 7 p.m.
The Lady Storm’s varsity softball team was supposed to play at Raville, but that game was canceled. Head coach Jeannie Beach said she did not know if it will be played at a later date.
Trinity Episcopal’s tennis team was set to start its 2017 season Tuesday afternoon against Delta Charter at the Vidalia tennis courts. However, that has been pushed back to today at 4 p.m., Trinity tennis coach Noreen Pyron said.
Natchez High School’s junior varsity and varsity softball teams were to play at Port Gibson, but those games have been canceled. Lady Bulldogs head coach Bonita Hamilton said she doesn’t know if those games will be rescheduled. Natchez High next plays on Friday when its hosts Franklin County with the JV game at 5 p.m. and the varsity game at 6 p.m.
Monterey High School’s varsity softball team was scheduled to host Grace Christian School in its LHSAA District 5-B opener, but that has been postponed until today at 3:30 p.m.
Block High School’s softball team was supposed to host LaSalle High School in its LHSAA District 3-1A opener, but the game has been tentatively rescheduled for today at 3:30 p.m.
