In loving remembrance of Lillie Mae McGrew, this year, the L.M. McGrew Scholarship Foundation will award a $1000 scholarship and one laptop computer to a deserving Natchez High School graduate in memory of a truly phenomenal woman and Natchez native. Established in 2017, this scholarship was created to honor the memory of a wonderful matriarch who lived by the principles of faith, hard work, truthfulness and kindness.

Lillie Mae McGrew believed that faith and education have the power to transform lives.   She consistently taught her family and any young people that she came in contact with that education was the key to eliminating barriers and reaching one’s true potential. Ms. McGrew was certain that empowering more students and families to pursue their dreams would provide for individual success and stronger local communities.

As a source of inspiration to many, Lillie Mae McGrew’s shared experiences and teachings were aimed at supporting and uplifting our youth as they began their journey into adulthood.

The L.M. McGrew Scholarship recognizes students who think critically and seek learning experiences inside and outside of the classroom.  The scholarship provides assistance to students who are committed to their academic studies, exhibit leadership potential and demonstrate a keen interest in furthering their education and providing public service and community engagement.

To apply, interested individuals must be: Natchez High School students who are graduating seniors at the time of their application, accepted to attend a college, university or other accredited institution of higher learning, and residents of Natchez, MS.

Once selected, the scholarship winner will receive a $1,000 check written directly to their selected institution and a new laptop computer (selected and purchased by the scholarship foundation).
