NATCHEZ — A Natchez High School student was charged Monday for allegedly assaulting and robbing another student during school hours on campus earlier this month.

Natchez Police Department Lt. Kenneth Stampley said Omari K. Isaac, 18, 118 Old Meadow Road, was charged with robbery, simple assault and disturbing the peace for the March 6 incident.

Isaac reportedly got into a physical altercation with another student then stole the student’s cell phone, Stampley said.

The school, Stampley said, brought the disturbing the peace charge against Isaac.

NHS Principal Tony Fields said the school followed its policy and procedures in place to address the incident.

“Any incident that we have, we are going to follow policy and procedure to make sure we have a safe and orderly environment,” Fields said. “We haven’t had many instances of it occurring this year, and I do think that’s a sign of the climate of the school changing.”
