FERRIDAY — Services for the Rev. Johnnie Lee Brown Sr., 68, who died Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson, La., will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Miss-Lou Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Leonard Posey officiating.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Brown was born Feb. 2, 1949, in Ferriday, the son of Samuel Brown Jr. and Yvonne Washington Brown.
Mr. Brown served on the Town of Ferriday’s board of aldermen since 2005, and had previously served on the Concordia Parish School Board. He had also served as director for the Concordia Parish Recreation District No. 1.
He served as a pastor, as well as an educator, in the Tensas and Concordia Parish school systems. He was reelected as councilman to the Ferriday board of aldermen in March 2016.
Mr. Brown was also a member of Omega Psi Phi and the American Legion Post 536.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Ann Brown; one son, Joshua Brown; and one grandson, Patrick Hall Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Jeremy Brown and fiancée, Tiffanee, of Baton Rouge and Johnnie Brown Jr. and fiancée, Denisha, of Ferriday; two daughters, Jahnshana Brown and Jacqueline Brown, both of Houston; three brothers, Donnell Brown and wife, Abby, of San Antonio, Texas, Anthony Brown and wife, Brigida, of Baton Rouge, and U.L. Brown of Atlanta; three sisters, Paulette B. Warner of Monroe, La., Eunice B. Jackson of Marrero, La., and Ophelia Moore and husband, Jimmie, of Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren, Aiyden Lewis, Jaicee Brown, Aniya Reese, Peyton Ann Hall, Ty’Ren Brown, DeJuan Moore and Aliyae Butler; one aunt, Ethel Batiste of San Mateo, Calif.; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
