NATCHEZ — A Natchez woman suspected of stealing two cars in January was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing a vehicle and burglarizing two county residences.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jean L. O’Quin, 48, 54 Starnes Drive, on charges of grand larceny (motor vehicle), possession of stolen property and burglary of a residence.

ACSO Maj. Jerry Brown said at approximately 7:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a call about a stolen vehicle on Starnes Drive. Brown said the vehicle, a white 2007 Lincoln truck, was last seen by the owners at approximately 2 a.m. and could have gone missing anytime between 2 and 7:30 a.m.

Deputies later recovered the vehicle undamaged off Artman Road in a ditch at approximately 10:30 p.m. The vehicle was missing its tag and had run out of gas.

At approximately 8 a.m. Thursday, deputies received a call about a burglary at another Starnes Drive residence in which a cell phone and a wallet were taken, Brown said. Brown said witnesses reportedly saw O’Quin leaving the residence.

Brown said the residence’s occupant reportedly lost the keys to the residence several weeks ago.

The keys, the cell phone and the wallet were allegedly recovered from O’Quin’s residence.

At approximately 11 p.m., deputies received a call about a burglary on Artman Road, Brown said.

In that incident, Brown said, someone allegedly forced open the front door to make entry, damaged a locked gun cabinet, but did not gain access to the contents, and stole a set of golf clubs.

When deputies recovered the vehicle off Artman Road, Brown said, a set of golf clubs and medicine in the Artman Road victim’s name were found in the Lincoln truck.

O’Quin is also accused of stealing two vehicles on January 17.

In the January case, O’Quin allegedly stole a Cadillac DeVille from a Myrtle Drive residence in the morning and deputies recovered the vehicle undamaged later that morning after it had run out of gas.

O’Quin then allegedly stole a Chevrolet Tahoe from a residence near where the DeVille was recovered.

A concerned resident called the sheriff’s office when the Tahoe was spotted and deputies found the vehicle parked on Williams Street. O’Quin was allegedly in the driver’s seat.

O’Quin was in jail Friday with no bond set.
