FERRIDAY — Funeral arrangements for Rosalie Ruth Tomko, 99, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the Magnolia House in Natchez, are incomplete at Young’s Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tomko was born April 3, 1917, in Hellertown, Pa., during World War II and lived through the influenza epidemic. She was the daughter of William Huff and Caroline Cork Huff.
She married in 1939, and raised her young children through WWII while her husband worked on a government project later known as the Manhattan Project. Her family has proudly served in the military from the American Revolution to 2016.
Mrs. Tomko was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Edward Tomko; one daughter, Virginia Ruth Tomko; and an infant sister.
Survivors include two sons, George Tomko and wife, Annett, of New Jersey and William Tomko and wife, Carol, of Ferriday; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
